This spring, it has been my truest pleasure to volunteer with the Frye Art Museum's "Creative Aging" program. Working as a teaching artist with seniors living with dementia has been something that I have been longing to do since my mother's passing. The memories I have of creating art with my mother as she navigated a life in which she found it difficult to remember her identity as a professional, life-long Artist are some of my most meaningful and treasured recollections. The Frye honors seniors with their Creative Aging program and gives them opportunities to express themselves with dignity and compassionate support. I feel so fortunate to have found this incredible program to give my time to, and in doing so have made a dear friend in the senior that I have been working with. I look forward to accompanying her and others in finding joy within the moment and an awareness of their unchanging selves, who make and celebrate.
